Fraser Island March 2020

When:- Saturday 7 March - Sunday 15 March 2020

Duration:- 7 Days

Meeting:- Inskip Point (see below)

Trip Leader:- Hangman(Ian) 0401 294 348

UHF:- Channel 15

Other:-

I suggest camping overnight at Inskip Friday night leaving first barge Saturday morning. Low tide is at 6am, first barge at 5am so leaving from Brisbane early is an option.

This is My Fraser, I'll show you some things not on the tourist trail.
 
No trailers, this will be a touring trip.

Fuel is available on the island but be prepared to pay $2-3/L

Fraser Island Itinerary 2020

Saturday 7 March - Sunday 15 March

Saturday High 0608 Low 1250
Catch Manta Ray Barge (need to book) from Inskip Point to Hook Point, Fraser Isle drive north on beach to Dili Village then onto Lake Boomanjin for lunch. Drive across island to Buff Creek then to Ungowa. Drive to Central Station (shower + toilet) need booking here

Sunday High 0700 Low 1330
From Central Station drive to Lake Mackenzie and Basin Lake. Drive to Kingfisher Resort and Mackenzie Jetty and Z Force training base.

Monday High 0735 Low 1405
Drive to Eurong for bakery stop
continue along beach to Cornwells Break Rd drive across to Valley of Giants and onto Postans Logging Camp
camp at old airstrip hangar (bush camp).

Tuesday High  0820 Low 1443
Drive north to check out old Telecom Tower and Bellert's Hut then onto Northern Rd to Woralie Creek and onto the beach to Awinya Creek at low tide (bush camp)

Wednesday High 0906 Low 1522
We will leave later today from camp due to afternoon low tide. Drive back along beach to Woralie Creek onto Woralie Rd to the eastern beach stopping at Lake Allom to see the turtles. Camping at Dundubara Camp Area (shower + toilet) need booking here.

Thursday High 0952 Low 1602
Drive north to Waddy Point depending on beach with high tide at 10am. Stopping at Champagne Pools        continue onto Waddy Point Camp (shower + toilet) (fire allowed) for tides)

Friday Low 0423 High 1039 Low 1644
Early start with drive along beach to Sandy Cape to explore light house and bush camp at fisherman's camp

Saturday Low 0531 High 1128
Early start head south to Waddy Point continuing along beach depending on tide to beach camp near Eli Creek

Sunday Low 0653 High  1224
Drive Home begins with swim at Eli Creek, visit Maheno then onto Hook Point to the Barge, we may need to take inland track due to high tide at 12.30pm, then drive home
