Stanthorpe trip June 2013
« on: June 13, 2013, 06:51:38 AM »
The trip started with me being very excited as most of you could tell lol, Radar & Corin had already left to start the trek while we were still working (well watching the clock anyway) shortly later we finished work and headed to met DJ n Kerri & Of course we had to wait for Dj as he was late I believe he was busy doing his hair. We then headed up it was a nice easy drive into stanthorpe, Radar N Corin had already set up and having a glass of wine when we arrived, we head to our camping area when wombat noticed all the bunnies in our camping area and tried to have rabbit for dinner. We set up and we all settled down for the night. The next morning we all got up n made plans for the day, we were awaiting for willow, jill and kids to arrive as 9:30 - 10am still no sign of them so we head out a bit of a drive around. We started at the olives, chilli  & fudge shop all in one, then went to mountain view winery which was a great spot, then we went to the jam shop and then had ice cream by the fire place. We then all deceided to head back to camp for some lunch and a relaxing afternoon, as we pull in we noticed willow and the gang had arrived. The camp grouds were great, it was not packed it felt like we were miles out, great facilitys and just nice n clean camping ground. we went and brought some fire wood from the camping grounds $20 for a good pack of wood n delivered to your camp site, it wasnt as cold as i thought it was going to be but it was still nippy, willow  n jill came up to say hi and the kids were having a ball as up the road one of the houses on the way to the camp grouds was giving away a go-kart so the kids grabbed it was zooming around the camp grounds having a ball and of course the boys thinking of how to put a motor on it make it go faster etc. We go the fire going and Radar n Corin came over to join us around the fire and then we saw it Radar foreskin lol (he had a scarf wrapped around his neck to keep him warm and of course our motley thinking kicked in and it then became radar foreskin lol), we sat around the lovel frie talking n laughing it was jsut a great night. The next mronign we decieded to go and visist the cheese shop n then we went to castle glen - if you have been to castle glen before well u know what I am talking about they have approx. 450 different alochol products and the different colours of the liqures WOW it was amazing if you go there you MUST try DRAGON BLOOD dont read what in it just try it lol. We then head to the WOG shop the big apple and then we went to the Stanthorpe maze well DJ, Kerri N Wombat did the maze all I could see what DJ standing on a platform yelling directions so then I decided to help and stood on the back of our ute tray and yelling them direction but I was using Ian's (telling them to kept turning left or follow the pink ribbon). We headed back to camp to relax for the afternoon and again sat around the camp fire, laughing and talking. It was just a nice relaxing soical camping trip, I think it was just what was required for all of us. We woke up monday to rain but it didnt dampin out sprits, us n dj packed up and then we found that wombat need to be snatched out of the camp grounds ( he left the accessoires on for over 5-6 hours we had a flat batteries n none of us had jumper leads lol), Radar n Corin was having a nice chilled morning and leaving sometime after lunch and willow, jill were slowly packing up so us n dj said good bye to all and headed home but we thought to go a different way we took the back roads from stanthorpe to killarney which was amazing drive but DJ had a BIG rpoblem with the car about 15mns into the back streets drive, it would cross the boarder into NSW's lol. the back way as I said was amazing it was so magicial and we went arong dirt roads. we made it to killarney were we had lunch at the pub and headed arcoss to complete the condamine 14 river arcossings we 1st check to ensure it was open and it was, it was a lovely drive and bit muddy we can out the other end and the head road is closed which is the road you normally turn to get to the condamine road (looks like road works) so we had to take other way which we have not done before and it tooks us back into NSW and along the back way into boonah which was a nice and different drive. we then parted to head home, it was sad in away as the weekend was just great, amazing company, views, roads and the places we visited. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. & also the places we went were all pet friendly :) photos to come as well
