Anzac Day Dawn Service 2012
« on: April 25, 2012, 06:53:56 PM »
Trip Leader: iananita

Attendees: Wombat, Jay, Cheiffy, Poncho

The day started early for most having to travel from the far reaches of Brisbane to Redcliffe. I got up at 4.30am to meet the others at 5am at Anzac Place on the Redcliffe foreshore.
The parade started at 5.30am and we joined with some 1000 others to remember those who have serviced this country on battle fields around the world. There are many dawn services around the country but it is always special here at Redcliffe because of the location. The last post being played as the sun rises over the water.
After the service we collected our thoughts and paid last respects at the cenotaph. Now it was time for breakie. After seeing the line up at the RSL it was decided to eat at the CWA. What a great feed, cooked by the ladies, eggs, curried sausages, baked beans and toast. From here we headed down to Scarborough to get a spot for the day at Pirate Park. After resting at the park for an hour or so, we  joined by the rest of the crew for a day of socialising. The day was finished off with our monthly meeting.
It was great day.

It was a good day at Pirate Park - Though we didn't quite make it to the dawn service.

Hair seemed to feature quite a bit...
Poncho now sports a new 'short' hair-doo after some tidying up with clippers at home.
Moral of the story... Never let Wombat near the scissors...! lol :)  :o
Loved the Blonde spike doo there too - It sure got a laugh din't it Boxxy!  ;D

Much fun was had by all.
